Something different happened in this town. People in charge were supporting and giving orientation to the townspeople and asking  for donations to help the ones who had a bad year and many losses. And for that purpose, they announced in the town square, asking people to bring the proof of their loss so they could be helped. And 100 persons applied and they said:

" There was a fire in my house that destroyed all." 
 " My business was robbed." 
" My partner swindled me."  " I lost everything gambling." 
They  showed documents as proof of their losses. The process was almost finished when the last one arrived, well dressed and not showing any sign of loss, but a withered flower in his hands. And he was asked. " You are the last one and all before you, showed  official proof; if you are a liar or a thief, it will be much better for you to leave, otherwise, you will be punished."

 That man said: " Many people have judged me the same but I did not come for  money, but to  show what is a true loss."

 He then, took the withered flower and showing it as a sword,  said these words:
 " This is my proof, this flower was of a golden color, even more than the sun at noon time. She was  light in the darkness, the torch that allowed me to see beyond   darkness but one day, she abandoned me, she withered, and my illusion, my heart, my hope, my happiness, my smile left with her."

He, then,  placed the flower against his chest and left the town square. And that day everybody understood that the greatest loss is not that of the world but of the heart.
